About Apprentice Tests

Apprentice Tests is an independent practice resource for the written tests that gate entry to skilled-trade apprenticeships in the United States, starting with the Elevator Industry Aptitude Test (EIAT)sat by applicants to the International Union of Elevator Constructors. We write original practice questions, written to match the formats in NEIEP's published examples, with a worked explanation for every one. NEIEP's own free study guide is the place to start; our practice adds volume on top of it.

We also write practice for the aptitude tests that United Association (UA) locals use to select plumber, pipefitter, steamfitter, sprinkler fitter and HVAC-R apprentices. There is no single UA test — each local chooses its own — so that practice covers the areas local notices describe, and we say so plainly.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by NEIEP, the IUEC, the United Association, any local union or JATC, or any elevator company. Our questions are for preparation only and are not the official assessment. Recruitment rules and test formats can change — always follow the guidance issued with your own recruitment.

Found something unclear or think a question could be better? We read every message — your feedback helps us make the practice sharper for the next applicant.
